Turkey with Thanksgiving bargain

Thanksgiving, millions of Americans get their turkey on the table for a low price.

American farmers have delivered the same amount as ever- according to government figures around 2.7 billion kilos- but they exported less. With the official American thanksgiving day the fattened turkeys are sold cheaper than last quarters.

Especially the more expensive dollar from past quarters has affected sales abroad. In addition, many countries still have their future of the effects of bird flu in 2015. With the decline in imports, there was considerably more turkey on the American market in recent months, which depressed the price.

Last year the sector delivered 244 million turkeys at slaughterhouses. There were still millions of birds on ice in freezing silos.

According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, the price now comes at a solid turkey of sixteen pounds in the United States costing $ 22.38 a piece on average. According to this agency, that is the lowest price since 2013.
