Polish officials have to work on protest day

The Polish Government grants its employees an extra long weekend.

According to the government decision, the officials get free on May 26, the Friday after Corpus Christi, a holiday in Catholic Poland. They can then look forward to an extra long weekend. The day must then be recovered on Saturday, June 4th. That is the anniversary of the first partially free elections in 1989, shortly before the fall of communism. The inner and extra-parliamentary opposition wants on that Saturday new mass demonstrations against the conservative policies of the government in Warsaw organize.

Over the past weekend were more than 200 000 people on the bone for a demonstration against the government.
