Police Belgium in action against illegal immigrants

In the night from Monday to Tuesday, the Belgian police arrested more than sixty illegal immigrants.

Illegal immigrants from fifteen different countries tried to go to England via Belgium. The problems with these so-called 'transmigrants' are increasing according to the authorities. The governor of West Flanders, Carl Decaluwé, told Belgian media that there should be more of this type of action, and not just in his province. He fears that migrants set up tent camps, just like in France.

According to Decaluwé, a lot of migrants have escaped during the night-time police action. There was not enough manpower to keep everyone up, 'many migrants could get away,' said the governor.
