Number of heat deaths Canada is rising

The heat wave that has plagued the Canadian province of Quebec for a few days has already killed at least 54 people.

Most victims were older than 65 and were chronically ill or suffering from other disorders. The temperature in Eastern Canada has risen to more than 34 degrees since Wednesday. That is about ten degrees higher than the average maximum temperature in early July. At the weekend the temperature drops again and the heat wave is over.
