Material damage in Mexico City is high

In Mexico City, due to the earthquake on Tuesday, 40 buildings were destroyed and 500 damaged.

Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera of Mexico's capital said that for the sake of safety first the damaged property should be investigated and possibly repaired. Especially residential complexes require a lot of research by building experts for residents to return.

The United Nations has offered Mexico assistance, said Secretary General Guterres. The Red Cross is already present in affected areas. Nearly ninety ambulances and five hundred volunteers were deployed.
