Main road closed by advancing lava Hawaii

Lava flows have reached a main road on Hawaii.

The eruption of the Kilauea volcano has caused a lot of damage on the island. Since the start of May, at least 82 houses have been destroyed and about 2000 inhabitants have been ordered to evacuate. There were also more than four hundred electricity poles and other equipment, resulting in power failures.

Not all residents make time for themselves. The fire brigade had to rescue a man on Sunday evening after the lava had reached its driveway. 'His only way out was through the back door and through the forest,' an official told local media. 'Some people simply refused to leave. ''

Entrepreneur Kevin Hopkins told news agency Reuters that the advancing lava destroyed the company where he grew tropical fish with his partners. 'It swallowed the farm,' the man said. 'The water boiled from the ponds. ''
