German Aldi removes all eggs from shelves

Aldi collects all the eggs from the stores throughout Germany, announced the supermarket company on Friday.

The chain speaks of 'a precautionary measure'. Aldi only purchases eggs with proof of a laboratory that they do not contain traces of the lice fipronil. As a result, the availability of eggs may be under pressure, but Aldi says to want to ensure 'clarity and transparency.' Customers who have purchased eggs from Aldi in the last few days can return them without a cash receipt.

Previously, the German supermarket chain REWE already took a similar step. That company announced Wednesday to take all Dutch eggs from the market at their own supermarkets and discount of daughter Penny.
