Yet stricter border controls Brenner

- Austria still ordered stricter border controls at the Brenner Pass, the border with Italy. That made the Austrian Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka said Friday after a meeting with his Italian counterpart Angelino Alfano.

Austria feared an influx of migrants that would grow strongly in traveling through Italy Europe because the route through the Balkans is almost closed. With stricter border controls Vienna wanted to keep power out. According to Sobotka, the number of asylum seekers, however, declined by more intensive inspections by Italy, which not required in Austria.
