Worry about using iPhone by children

World January 8, 2018 07:30

new york - Two major shareholders of Apple have expressed concerns about the use of the iPhone by children.

They call on the technology company to ensure that parents can restrict children's access to the iPhone and investigate the effects of frequent use of the smartphone on mental health.

The call was made in a letter from shareholders Jana Partners and California State Teachers Retirement System. Together they own approximately $ 2 billion of Apple shares. According to them, there is growing evidence that some frequent young users of iPhones have unintended negative consequences. This may ultimately also have a negative impact for Apple itself, according to the shareholders.

Apple already offers several options for parents to control what children do on the iPhone. For example, it concerns parental permission to purchase products and services on the smartphone.
