chautauqua (ny, united states) - A 43-year-old woman from Chautauqua County, New York, was shot dead this week because a hunter saw her for a deer.

Rosemary Billquist left her dogs in a field on Wednesday night, when a single shot hit her. That shot came from the 34-year-old Thomas Jadlowski, who held her for a deer just after sunset.

When the hunter, after his shot, fired at a distance of about 180 meters, heard an icy scream, he tried to save the woman by stopping the bleeding. It did not work. Rosemary died later in hospital. The police are investigating the case, but have not yet indicted Jadlowski.

Rosemary's husband Jamie said on Facebook that he was convinced that his Rosemary is dancing in heaven with friends and family who had already lost their lives.
