Whole island cleared for ashes spewing volcano

port vila - An island in the archipelago of Vanuatu must be completely evacuated because a volcano continues to spew ash. The state of emergency has been declared on Ambae, which threatens to become uninhabitable.

On the island houses and trees collapse under the weight of the ashes and residents get health complaints, reports Radio New Zealand.

The volcano Lombenben erupted in September and then remained active. The activity has recently increased again.
