berlin - The first major obstacle on the way to a German center government was taken. After another Merkelian meeting marathon of about twenty-four hours yesterday morning white smoke rose at the Willy Brandt-Haus in Berlin. The presidents of the Christian parties CDU and CSU, plus the left-wing host SPD, were delighted. But the Social Democrats can still throw a spanner in the works.
