cologne - The German police Saturday in Cologne with a water cannon on protesters anti-Islam movement Pegida chased. Hundreds of supporters of Pegida and the extreme-right party Pro Köln argued against the influx of refugees. The police put an end to the rally when the demonstrators started throwing bottles and firecrackers.


         Besides Pegida also demonstrate other groups. Thus, around 2500 people, mostly women, gathered to protest against racism and sexism.
The police are out in force on the square in front of Cologne's main train station there. There are around 1700 agents on the leg.
Following the demonstrations, the mass assault on New Year's night. More than 170 women were robbed at the station, assaulted or even raped by a crowd of men, including a large number of asylum seekers.
