washington - The US government has strongly criticized Russia and China for a policy document for a new national security strategy. It gives an analysis of Moscow as 'rival' and 'bad actor on the world stage', despite Trumps own wish for warmer ties with President Vladimir Putin.
The criticism of Russia in the document reflects the long-formed view of American diplomats that Russia is actively undermining American interests at home and abroad. The parts of the document released on Monday did not directly report American accusations that Russia was interfering with last year's presidential elections.
Apart from Russia, the document also marks China as a 'rival'. According to this vision, both countries are determined to make the economy less free and fair, to strengthen their armed forces and to control information and data to suppress their societies and expand their influence.
