washington - The US Department of Foreign Affairs has approved the sale of THAAD air missiles to Saudi Arabia. That confirmed the Pentagon on Friday. The deal is about $ 15 billion (12.75 billion). The Saudi's receive 44 launchers with all accessories like radars and 360 projectiles.
The intended delivery of the advanced weapon systems, which could harm high-ballistic missiles, 'supports US foreign policy and US security goals by improving the security of a friendly nation,' explains the statement. The Pentagon also said that the primary military balance in the region does not change.
Lockheed Martin produces the THAAD rocket batteries and launch platforms, with Raytheon as the main supplier.
