washington - Some 7,000 Syrian refugees can stay in the United States for a year and a half. To this end, the government decided in Washington.
Because of the continuing war in their homeland, the Syrians still have at least eighteen months of a protected status that would actually expire in March. 'After careful consideration of local conditions, I have determined that it is necessary to extend the temporary protected status for Syria,' Minister Kirstjen Nielsen (Home Security) explained the decision.
The protected status only applies to Syrians residing in the USA since 2016 or before.
