US and Russia want to file in Syria

- Syria should be a cease-fire observed with effect from Saturday 27th February. This was put forward by the US and Russia in a special working group of the United Nations.

The news channel Al-Jazeera reported that Russia and the US have agreed on a file that must be respected by the government of President Bashar al-Assad and the rebels. The Sunni extremists of the Islamic State and al-Nusra Front, according to Moscow and Washington then applies a file. The two groups are labeled as terrorist by the UN.

It is still unclear how the two great powers of the warring parties will move to a truce. This should be settled no later than noon on February 26th. The temporary cease-fire should lead to talks between government and rebels and humanitarian aid.

Russia is a staunch ally of the Assad regime and has intervened militarily in late September to save it from destruction regime. The United States are among the fiercest opponents of Assad.
