UNICEF has more than 2.5 billion needed for relief

- UNICEF has more than 2.5 billion euros for humanitarian aid to 43 million children in conflict zones and regions have been natural disasters. The UN children's organization said in calling on the world community to give money.
The required amount is about two times as large as the sum which UNICEF needed three years ago. There is much more money because there happen to be many more people in need, according to UNICEF.
The bulk of the money, nearly 1 billion euros, is intended for life-saving assistance to children in Syria and in refugee camps in neighboring countries. UNICEF is currently living one in nine children in an area where an armed conflict is ongoing. The probability that the children before their fifth in a preventable disease death is twice as high as for children in other countries.
