new york - Half of the population of Yemen, some fourteen million people, is on the brink of a famine and is in danger of becoming fully dependent on food aid for survival. Mark Lowcock gave that warning to the Security Council of the United Nations on Tuesday. Lowcock is responsible for humanitarian aid within the UN.
