TURIN (AFN)- Telecom Italia is reported to be deleting around 7000 jobs in Italy. That could be a sign by 14 percent of the company's Italian workforce, reported Bloomberg news agency on the basis of insiders.

According to the sources, the top of the company is already talking to the trade unions about the imminent mega-intervention, which is intended to make the company work more efficiently. In addition, Telecom Italia would have suggested that some 4,000 people retire early. The rest of the job cuts should be achieved through the purchase of employment contracts.

The company also reportedly thought about accepting some 2,000 younger workers. That should be arranged again by running around 3000 older employees less hours. Telecom Italia declined to comment.
