san francisco - Twitter co-founder Evan Williams sells a minority of its shares in Twitter over the coming year. That's what Williams said in a message on the Medium.com publishing platform, which he founded. After the announcement, Twitter on the stock market became 1 percent less worthwhile.

'' It gives me pain to sell at this time, but this sale is for personal reasons, not because of the business, '' he writes. Williams proposes like to invest in things why he gives and to assist in the creation of a smarter, more sustainable world. '' I am very happy that I am able to use funds to make other people be able to make good things. ''

Wednesday, Williams sold for about $ 4 million, a small 3.8 million of Twitter shares, but a spokesman would have told CNBC that Williams no more than 30 percent would do the hand shares. Thus he reduces his stake in Twitter from about 5 to less than 4 percent.

Williams Twitter regularly sold shares in the past but did so in the past year and a half not. He claims to be optimistic about the future of Twitter. The majority of its assets are invested in Twitter shares and is likely to remain true, he writes.
