Turkey wants to get people out of besieged Ghouta

istanbul - Turkey wants to evacuate around 500 people together with Russia from the besieged Syrian district of East Ghouta near the capital Damascus. That is what the Turkish president Recep Erdogan said on Sunday.

According to him it is about people who urgently need humanitarian aid. The Turkish president has had contact with his Russian counterpart Putin and wants to bring the people to Turkey.

In November, the UN humanitarian adviser called the situation in East Ghouta a 'humanitarian emergency. 'The Syrian army is working there on an offensive to expel rebels.
