Trump: let voters decide on Moore's fate

World November 16, 2017 22:24

washington - It is up to the electorate in Alabama to decide whether the controversial Republican Roy Moore is entitled to a place in the US Senate. That is the opinion of President Donald Trump, according to a spokesperson for the White House on Thursday.

'The president finds the accusations worrying and says they should be taken seriously,' said the spokeswoman. Earlier, Trump said that if the accusations are correct, Moore must step out of the Senate seat.

According to his spokeswoman, the president still thinks so, but in the current situation the voters have to speak about the future of Moore.

Moore is accused by various women of sexual misconduct. The accusations are about incidents that may have occurred years ago and come from women who were young girls at the time.

Moore is candidate (70) at the midterm election next month for a Senate seat on behalf of the state of Alabama. He is known as extremely conservative and headstrong.
