Trump confirms: Pompeo spoke with Kim

American media had previously reported on the secret meeting on the basis of anonymous sources. Pompeo traveled to North Korea last week for a personal conversation with the dictator. They would have talked about the possible summit meeting between Kim and Trump. 'The details around the summit are being worked out', wrote the American president on Wednesday.

The United States wants the North Korean regime to cease its nuclear program. 'Denuclearization will be great for the world, but also for North Korea,' the president said. Pompeo is, as far as we know, the highest-ranking American official who has so far sat around the table with Kim Jong-un.
