rotterdam - Sixteen young people were caught in Rotterdam at the end of May and early July in suspicion of involvement in multiple crimes, including fourteen home burglars. The youngest suspect is fourteen years old, the oldest nineteen. With the arrests, the police hoped to put an end to a series of burglaries in the Tarwewijk in the Rotterdam district of Charlois. The number of burglaries has dropped from ten to a few times a week.
The police keep in mind that the suspects were involved in a street robbery, scooter theft and the planning of a robbery in the neighborhood, except for the burglaries.
The young people all come from Rotterdam and went in varying composition. During the arrests a number of stolen goods were found, such as expensive jewelry. The police also found burglar tools in some suspects.
Four suspects have now been put in custody by the judge-in-law. The others will appear later in court. The police do not rule out any further arrests.
