Trèbes commemorates victims' attack

trèbes/paris - The southern French town of Trèbes commemorates the victims of Friday's terrorist attack. Four people lost their lives through shootings and a hostage in Carcassonne and Trèbes. The perpetrator, a 25-year-old Frenchman of Moroccan origin, stated that this was an attack on Islamic State. The perpetrator was killed by the police.

One of the victims, Arnaud Beltrame, was an officer of the gendarmerie. He took the place of a hostage and probably prevented more deaths. He will be honored nationally at a time to be determined later, the French government reported.

On Sunday, the Bishop of Carcassonne, Alain Planet, also commemorated Beltrame as 'a dedicated Christian who calls us to believe in a life that is stronger than death' during the Mass in Trèbes. '
