Toddler in full van died by police bullet

tournai - A 2-year-old girl who was found severely wounded in a crowded van after a police pursuit on Thursday was hit by a police bullet. This is evident from the autopsy, the Public Prosecution Service reports to Belgian media. The child died on the way to the hospital.

The Public Prosecutor had initially denied that the girl had been hit by a police bullet.

In the van there were 26 adults and three more children, probably all Kurds. The police noticed the car on the E42 near Namur. The van was intercepted kilometers away, in the vicinity of Bergen.

According to The Guardian, the deceased girl Mawda was called and fled with her parents and her brother towards the United Kingdom.
