Thousands of Palestinians gathered for protest

The protest is organized by the radical Hamas movement, which claims the right of return of the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fleeing and their descendants. The intention is to demonstrate daily until 15 May. Israel rejects return because then the Jewish population would lose the majority.

Israel has taken various measures in connection with the protests. For example, about one hundred snipers were posted along the border and barbed wire was installed.
