These five things disappear

These five things disappear

amsterdam - The walkman, the CD player and the floppy disk, they all came up and disappeared again. These six things are according to trend watcher Michael McQueen also on extinction:

1. Parking garages. The self-driving car makes garages superfluous: after you have been dropped off, the car drives to a place outside the city waiting for you. Or you rent it as self-driving Uber. 'Within 30 years, owning a car is the same as having a horse today. '

2. Service stations. The electric car pulls up (slowly) and that has major consequences for the filling stations. McQueen predicts accelerated closure of thousands of branches.

3. Payment cards. The telephone is already taking over payments in the coming years, but then biometrics breaks through. Fingerprint, your voice or an iris scan will soon be enough. Or just the fact that you are recognized by the camera in a store is already enough guarantee that your money will be debited.

4. Call centers. If you call a company with questions, you will be redirected to an often large call center. The chat robot quickly makes it unnecessary. And not one that says: key 1... But a smart computer that really helps you quickly. 'Technology is much cheaper and more efficient than staff,' says McQueen

5. Language. Also such a problem with German and French? Teachers may fear their job. Soon a German speaks directly to the translation machine in your ear and under this the Frenchman suddenly understands Dutch.

Michael McQueen predicts in his latest book, How to Prepare Now for What's Next, that half of the current jobs will disappear due to new technology and automation, according to news. com. au.
