Thalys suspect transferred to France

brussels - On Friday, Belgium handed a suspect in the case of the thwarted attack on the Thalys train from Amsterdam to Paris in 2015 to France, reports the federal prosecutor. Youssef Siraj was arrested in Belgium at the end of October. He would have sheltered the perpetrator, Ayoub el Khazzani, the days before the attack in his home in the Brussels municipality of Laeken.

The 26-year-old El Khazzani was on August 21, 2015 heavily armed on board the train got on station Brussels South and hid in the toilet. Just beyond the French border he emerged, but was almost immediately overpowered by American passengers.

The French police arrested the Moroccan in Arras. The Thalys heroes received an award in both France and the USA.
