grozny - Terrorists have attacked police officers in several places in the Russian Federal Republic of Chechnya. Four archers have been shot dead according to the authoritarian leader of the regional republic, Ramzan Kadirov. Five agents were injured. According to Kadirov, it was a failed attempt to disrupt the Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice).

He said that Islamic State is behind the attacks. According to sources in the Middle East, the terrorist movement has indeed claimed responsibility for the attacks on social media.

Russian media reported Monday that in the capital Grozny and in Shali and in Mesker-Joert, both southeast of Grozny, agents have been bombarded. That happened with firearms and in an attack drove a car on agents. One of the terrorists wanted to blow himself up, but the explosives did not go off.

The small 1.4 million inhabitants of Chechnya in the Caucasus were the scene of bloody wars in the years 1994-2000. Initially, Russian troops tried in vain to re-enlist the independent Chechnya network. That destroyed the country and caused growing crime and political and religious extremism. Kadirov tries to dominate that as a dictator.
