In addition, the internet companies involved must also take more proactive measures, such as automatic detection of illegal messages, says EU commissioner Andrus Ansip (digital market).

Brussels expects the companies to take action within three months in the field of terrorist propaganda. A term of six months applies to the exclusion and removal of other illegal messages. Later this year, Brussels determines whether European legislation is needed.
