nairobi - At several places in the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, the police deployed tear gas on Tuesday morning against crowds that are up for the inauguration of President Uhuru Kenyatta. Kenyatta is installed in the Kasarani Sport Stadium north of the city.

The jostling at the stadium is so great that the police fired tear gas to reduce many thousands of people. The stadium is already full with about 60,000 spectators, but outside more people are trying to enter.

Elsewhere in the city, the police fire tear gas off protesters who dispute Kenyatta's presidency. Opposition leader Raila Odinga wants to hold a demonstration against Kenyatta on Tuesday. The police have now sealed off the intended place for the demonstration.

Kenyatta was elected president of the East African country of nearly fifty million people for the second time. The presidential election was boycotted by the opposition. The election was a 'second chance' after the Supreme Court declared the presidential election in August invalid due to irregularities.
