Students want referendum about Brexit deal

World May 13, 2018 08:42

london - British student organizations that together represent almost 1 million young people have joined forces to enforce a referendum on a future Brexit agreement. The students ask the MPs in the area where they live to support the call for a plebiscite.

In a letter to the parliamentarians, the student unions point out that young people also have the right to say something about the Brexit, because it is their future, according to the Sunday newspaper The Observer.

Many young people who have doubts about the Brexit were not yet old enough in June 2016 to vote in the referendum on EU membership. That is why they still want to have the opportunity to make their voices heard when an agreement about the Brexit is on the table.

Many British young people fear that their future prospects will become less rosy if Britain leaves the EU. Student leaders have said that they are preparing actions that will be much larger than the protests in 2010 against raising the tuition fees.
