Strikes hold European Championship soccer fans

brussels - The Belgian Socialist rail union threatens between 12 and 26 June to stop work. The strikes can football fans who want to take trains for the European Championship in France.

The organization had already reported to want to pursue a week operations but has extended that period Wednesday. It still only concerns French-speaking staff. The President of the Flemish branch of the railway union does not mean that the Dutch speakers participate.

Earlier announced the pilots of Air France to go on strike during the European Championship, which will kick off Friday with the match between France and Romania.

The Walloon and Brussels railway staff also stopped last month though, especially to protest the proposed reduction of compensation days. The new strike threat pressed during the negotiations with the railway management, which have been fruitless so far.
