- All 22 buoys have been placed in the ocean to Indonesia after the tsunami of 2004, no longer work. According to the Indonesian authorities have the shackles, to warn of a tsunami, all stolen or destroyed.
Wednesday was still appealed to other warning systems in the country, after an earthquake with a magnitude of 7. 8 in the Indian Ocean. Sirens went off, after you feel the quake was in a large part of Sumatra. A tsunami ultimately never came. However, there were a number of deaths according to local rescuers.
The islands of Indonesia are at relatively high risk of being hit by a tsunami, because they are in the so-called Ring of Fire. That is a horseshoe-shaped area known for its many earthquakes.
