Spring 2016 very changeable

- The spring of 2016 saw a highly volatile character. The temperature was 9.8 degrees Celsius slightly higher than average (9.5 degrees) with a lot of sunshine, but there was more rain than normally. Pentecost was a low point with only 12 degrees, Weeronline.nl reports.

Although the summer, according to the astronomical calendar only starts on June 21, the meteorological summer start already on 1 June. The meteorological spring had an erratic and appeared a succession of winter and summer periods in 2016. With 572 hours of sunshine was brighter than normal (517 hours of sunshine), but there was also a 10 mm more rain than usual (183mm to 173 mm).

Eventually, during the period March, April, May 15 hot days with temperatures of 20 degrees or more measured. The first official warm day was on Sunday, April 3rd. Also knew the spring frost 15 days, where 12 is common. The lowest temperature was measured in Deelen on March 1 with-7.8 degrees Celsius. The summer period ended with the coldest Whitsun since 1951. On Friday, May 13th, it was still 22 degrees, two days later, the temperature did not exceed 12 degrees. Afterwards was May cold and wet, though the last weekend sweltering hot with 20 to 25 degrees.

This weekend there are significant rain and thunderstorms predicted, with a chance of hail and wind gusts. Most wetness is expected Sunday and Monday, with more than 30 millimeters of rainwater. Cold it is not, with daytime temperatures of 18 to 24 degrees locally.
