Special condoms for Australian Olympians

sydney - Members of the Australian Olympic team who travel to Brazil for the Olympics, get special condoms that protect them against zikavirus. The initiative comes from an Australian pharmacy and condom manufacturer Ansell. The condoms have double protection and special lubricant, so the risk of infection is much smaller.

The zikavirus is primarily spread by mosquitoes, but, more and more cases in which the virus is likely transmitted through sex. In February, fourteen new cases of zikavirus in the United States to light, which were probably sustained through sexual contact with infected men.

There is so far only proof that men can infect women. Conversely, it is not known yet occurred.
