Spanking is not allowed in France anymore

On the night of Thursday to Friday, the French parliament passed a law that guarantees children a nonviolent upbringing.

The law has long been overridden. An earlier attempt to ban 'la fessée' ('spanking') and other forms of beat did not work out in 2010. Many French think that the government does not have to interfere with the home situation.
