So you can set up a VPN on your iPhone or iPad

- For example, a VPN (Virtual Private Network) is useful if you want to consult your Dutch Netflix account from abroad. With your iPhone or iPad so you can make a VPN connection.

First of all, you will naturally need a subscription with a VPN service. And then establish a VPN connection, you must first go to the Settings menu of your iPhone or iPad. Tap General and select VPN. Once there, tap your profile to add VPN configuration.

With a VPN connection, you can surf safely and with a lot more privacy.

There are four things you need to give up anyway: a description, the server, the account name and password for the VPN connection. Optionally, you can turn on the slide behind RSA SecurID if you want to use two-step authentication. Because there are several ways to create a VPN connection, you have iOS choose from three options: L2TP, PPTP and IPSec. Choose the option that you need and if you have entered all the information, tap Save.

Standard creates a VPN configuration without a proxy. But of course you can change this with your iPhone or iPad. Make sure in this case that you scroll down when creating the VPN configuration and under Proxy option, select Manual or Automatic. The first option you need to specify the server and the port, and optionally turn on the slide behind Identity Control. If you enable this option, you must specify User Name and Password of the proxy.

The default is not connect to your VPN, but once you have specified one or more VPN configurations, you will find a new option in your settings menu. Tap on Settings VPN, select the VPN configuration and put the slide under VPN configurations. At the top you see now appear VPN logo: confirmation that all of your Internet traffic now goes through your VPN connection.
