'Snapchat is working on new Spectacles'

The first version of the Spectacles came on the market last year. Snapchat wanted to broaden its market and earn more money, but it was not a success. Worldwide only about 150,000 pieces were sold, the vast majority of which remained unsold on the shelf. Snapchat has probably lost several tens of millions.

With version two, according to Cheddar there is no big change yet. The Spectacles will be available in new colors, the camera will be slightly better and the software will get some adjustments. The third version in 2019 would be fundamentally different. The glasses would receive two cameras for three-dimensional films. The third Spectacles may also receive built-in GPS and the appearance may change. The price would more than double, from $ 130 to $ 300.

Snapchat founder and CEO Evan Spiegel is a big fan of augmented reality, projecting images in the real world. According to Cheddar that is his future dream for the Spectacles.
