Slovaks argue against the extreme right gains

- Thousands of people have taken to the streets Monday in Slovakia to protest against the far-right People's Party OnsSlowakije (LSNs). Who got a surprising 8 percent of the vote during the elections. There were more demonstrations in Bratislava, Banská Bystric, the birthplace of the LSNs party leader Marian Kotleba.
Slovaks went to the polls Saturday for parliamentary elections. By 8 percent of the electorate to win for yourself, get LSNs fourteen of the 150 seats in parliament. It is the first time an extreme-right party is in the Slovak parliament. The party is against refugees and Roma. Founder and party leader Kotleba has repeatedly sued for racism and right-wing extremism, but not convicted so far.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico suffered a heavy defeat. His Social Democratic Smer party fell from 44 percent in the last election back to 28.3 percent, but remains the largest party.
