tehran - The first train from China to Iran earlier this week arrived in Tehran. Iranian Railways reported enthusiastically that the freight transported 32 containers, the Silk Road revived.

The train traveled 9,500 kilometers from the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang to the Iranian capital. The trip lasted two weeks and was thus thirty days shorter for the merchandise than by ship from Shanghai to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas.
