amsterdam - The United States received 313,000 more jobs last month, an increase of 4.1%. The hourly wage rose by 2.6% compared to last year.

In January the increase was 239,000 pieces according to adjusted figures. The December figures were adjusted upwards from 160,000 to 175,000 jobs.

The average number of hours worked per week only slightly increased to 34.5 hours.

In response, the futures for the opening of the stock exchanges on Wall Street went up.

In advance, an increase of 205,000 jobs to 4% was anticipated, according to a consensus of analysts. The hourly wage is expected to have increased by 2.8%, compared to 2.9% in January.

The participation of the number of employees has increased considerably. The unemployment rate remained flat at 8.2% month-on-month.

A stronger rise in wages would lead to more inflation. That could be the signal for the Federal Reserve not to implement the announced three rate hikes but four steps up in 2018.

According to a Wednesday report from payroll processor ADP, 235,000 jobs were added in February, compared with 234,000 jobs a month earlier.
