- Unidentified gunmen on Friday shot down the Georgian opposition leader Alexei Petriasjvili. The leader of the Free Democrats party Georgia's wounded transported to a hospital. This was announced by the Interior Ministry in the capital Tbilisi.

Attacks by armed men come with guns in Georgia rare. Opposition leaders are already regularly beaten up.

Georgia holds parliamentary elections in October.
