'Sex scandals at Red Cross'

- The International Red Cross (ICRC) investigates reports that aid workers are guilty of sexual misconduct. Discussions about this behavior are extensively discussed in a closed Facebook group with 4331 members, the NOS reports.

Several people gave their hearts after the news that Oxfam employees held sex parties in disaster areas. Several group members write that they also do this at the ICRC. The leadership would not do anything about this.

On Tuesday, the Swiss newspaper Le Temps reported on the group. 'It is positive to finally have an open discussion about the use of prostitutes by ICRC employees. During my six years at the ICRC, this type of behavior was common in every mission, 'one of them writes.

Another member would have written: 'One of the employees even had a promotion at the head office although he was caught red-handed. This man never learned his lesson and kept bragging about his colleagues about the girls. '

A spokesman for the ICRC tells the NOS that the Facebook messages are taken very seriously. He fears, however, that the misconduct discussed has never been reported.

Since 8 May 2017, the private Facebook group has been created for members of the ICRC alumni network and employees of the international branch.
