singapore - Singapore arrested seventeen people because of possible involvement in the theft of oil from a Shell refinery. The arrests were made at several incursions on Sunday, after Shell had reported the theft in August, reports the police. At the raids, millions of cash money were seized.

The arrested suspects are between 30 and 62 years old. Their bank accounts are frozen. How much oil they have captured is not known. Shell reports that there are also employees among the detainees. The oil and gas company expects that deliveries from the refinery on the island of Pulau Bukom may be delayed.

Illegal oil is usually traded in Southeast Asia and often stored in trucks or in small tanks in ports.
