kolhapur - A minibus has been poured from a bridge in western India. Thirteen people were killed, seven of whom are children, reports the police. Three people survived the accident and were wounded to the hospital.

The bus driver lost control and drove through the guardrail of a bridge near the city of Kolhapur. The bus fell ten meters deep and landed in the river Panchganga. The passengers on the bus were Hindu pilgrims returning from a visit to a temple.

According to local media, the driver would have driven too fast. The police are investigating the accident.

India is the country with the most traffic deaths worldwide. On average, 135,000 people die every year in Indian traffic.
