Senators remind Trump about levy

houston - Two prominent Republican senators have called on President Trump to pursue a nuanced trade policy at a conference in Houston and to be cautious about extra charges.

John Cornyn from Texas said he hopes we will not pretend that all countries are exactly the same. Senator Lisa Murkowski from Alaska said he was amazed at Trump's decision to levy additional import duties on foreign steel and aluminum, and urged him to be very careful with that. Murkowski and Cornyn spoke at a large congress of bosses from the energy sector, CERAWeek.

The Republican president Trump signed his signature on Thursday with a 25 percent import tax on steel and 10 percent on aluminum. He made an exception for the neighboring countries Canada and Mexico. The US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Friday that Trump could make exceptions for even more countries.
