Senate agrees to new tax law

World December 20, 2017 06:36

washington - The American Senate agreed after a night's deliberation with President Donald Trump's new bill to drastically reform the tax system. 51 of the 100 senators voted in favor of the new law. 48 Democratic senators voted against. In the plans companies and rich Americans will pay less tax.

The bill has now been sent back to the House of Representatives, where a new vote has to be taken. The supervisor of the Senate had determined earlier in the day that three measures in the whole package were not allowed, on which they were removed. As a result, a new vote is necessary because the House must give its approval for the same bill.

Companies and wealthy Americans will benefit most from the tax cuts. For example, from the start of 2018 the profit tax for companies will go from 35 to 21 percent. The Republicans are counting on a substantial improvement in the economy.
